Product codes must be entered into the system before receiving. The system needs to know what items to prompt and validate. Products can be added "on the fly" during receiving, but normally the lead time is adequate to prepare the files in advance.

Products are also assigned group codes which are like product lines. A computer manufacturer may sell monitors, modems and printers, which would be the group codes.
MON100, MON200... would be product codes assigned to the monitor group.

The main screen describes the basics for this product code and there are sub-screens for defining weight and cube fields that are required for the field class, and default data entry for user fields that may need tracking or entering.
